We were responsible for the structural engineering studies relating to the construction of the K56 power plant on Lake Kivu. The site is located approximately 10 km south of the city of Gisenyi, Rwanda, on the shores of Lake Kivu, which forms the western border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The buildings and structures covered by our assignment were:

• Gas engine building: steel structure and foundations
• Electrical building: steel structure and foundations
• Foundations for transformers, ducts, trenches, tanks and black-start systems
